Tape Automated Bonding (TAB) tape and Chip On Film (COF) tape for mounting on semiconductors, are principally used to implement driver ICs onto liquid crystal, PDP and other types of thin panels. Mitsui Kinzoku's tape products feature high productivity and quality, and have attained industry-leading market shares. Our Group company, MCS, Inc. is in charge of manufacturing and inspecting these tape products, with operations in Yamaguchi, Fukuoka and Saitama Prefectures. |

The Battery Materials Division makes materials used in different kinds of batteries, including MF zinc powder used in alkaline batteries, MH alloys (hydrogen storaging alloys) for nickel-hydrogen batteries, and lithium manganate found in lithium-ion batteries. These materials have advanced functions to support the batteries used in many different aspects of our lives, such as mobile equipment and hybrid cars. |

A range of metal powders are manufactured. Mitsui Kinzoku enjoys an edge with its extensive product lineup, including environment-friendly lead-free soldering powder, atomized powders (copper and zinc) and ultra-fine powders (copper, nickel and silver) used in electronic equipment, Passtran (functional and conductive powder) found in antistatic coatings and magnetite used as a photocopier toner. Quality products for a range of purposes are being developed, using technologies to control grain forms and sizes.

This Division mainly handles cerium oxide abrasive powders used to polish thin panels and hard disks, tantalum oxide and niobium oxide used in optical lenses and ceramic capacitors, tantalum carbide and niobium carbide used in ultra-hard tools and other rare earths that provide a broad range of applications. Rare metals are sometimes referred to as the ¡Èvitamins¡É of industry, and our products are also helping products achieve superior performance in many different areas. |

The PVD Materials Division manufactures a number of different sputtering target materials. Target materials of different compositions to suit diverse purposes are being handled, including ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) that provides materials for the transparent conductive film used in liquid crystal panels and plasma panels, as well as magnetic disk, magnetic head, optical recording media and thermal head. Production bases have been built in Taiwan and South Korea in addition to domestic facilities, and an impressive market share has been attained especially for ITO.
